Yet in the midst of collapse, discipline rose — in firefighters climbing stairs no man should climb, in officers running toward danger, in civilians helping strangers down smoke-filled hallways, in families holding each other through uncertainty.
Discipline is not loud. It is not glamorous. It is the quiet decision to stand your post when the world shakes. 9/11 revealed that discipline is the backbone of courage. It is the unseen strength that makes a man move forward when everything around him says run.
